for Coaches
FAQs
-
Coaches for Los Angeles is a grassroots initiative connecting professional coaches with residents impacted by the recent wildfires. Our goal is to provide free coaching support to help individuals rebuild their lives with clarity, strength, and hope.
-
We welcome professional coaches with ICF credentials, those pursuing certification, and coaches certified in trauma-informed coaching. If you’re passionate about supporting others during challenging times, this program is for you.
-
During the sign-up process, we ask coaches to commit to offering residents 50-minute sessions in packages of 2, 4, or 6 sessions. We will match residents with coaches based on availability and the requested number of sessions, plus other factors.
Once introduced, you and your client will decide on a cadence that fits both of your schedules. Please note that we are asking coaches to allow residents to their sessions anytime before March 31, 2025. -
We’ll use the information from your sign-up form - such as sessions offered, language spoken, and coaching modality - to match you with a resident whose needs align with your expertise.
Residents will be sent three potential coaches and given the option to choose a coach to work with.
When selected, you’ll receive an email with the resident’s contact information to initiate the coaching relationship. -
Many residents may be new to coaching. Take a moment to explain the process and set expectations. Let them know that coaching is a supportive partnership where they drive the agenda, and you’re there to help them explore their goals and next steps.
-
Coaching principles are universal, and your skills can apply across a range of situations. Focus on asking thoughtful questions and helping the client uncover their own solutions. If needed, clarify any unfamiliar details with curiosity and an open mind.
We are also working with experts in trauma-informed coaching to make additional resources available to coaches participating in this initiative. -
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of coaching. You’ll create a safe and private space where your client can share openly without fear of judgment or their information being shared.
-
If you feel your coaching style isn’t the right fit for a client, or if you encounter challenges, please reach out to us via email. We’ll work with you to address the situation and, if necessary, rematch the resident with another coach.
-
Our initiative is focused on providing pro bono coaching to residents impacted by the wildfires.
If your client initiates and requests additional services or wants to continue beyond the program’s timeline, you’re welcome to negotiate those terms independently. -
